Cut Out

This is my little cousin at a dinner before a wedding.
Camera: Sony DSC-S600
F-stop: f/4
Exposure time : 1/100sec.
ISO speed: 80

I erased the background and did a slight feather to make the photo stand out a little better.

I don’t have a clue what you were taking a picture of in the first shot you took but I really like it. The leaves suck you right in and just the different shades of blue in the back make you wonder what it is. Cool man. The other two shots felt like you had to get something in for an assignment. I thought you chose a very hard subject to do a cutout. People, in particularly hair of people is something almost impossible to cut out well. There are some programs you can purchase to do that. Even the pros don’t do this like the way you did. They always use a solid neon green or something for a back ground so that it’s easy to cut the back ground out.

First of all, really cut picture. I agree with Travis though that you chose a difficult subject to cut out. However, if you used the Quick Selection tool, then it would probably have been fairly easy. I hope that's what you did. Great work on the cutout!

I love the picture, it's really cute, and the bottom makes it a good photo to try the partial cutout. Kurt makes a good suggestion with the Quick Selection tool. It really helps make edges a lot smoother and will be much more simple. I'd also suggest a little less feathering to make a cleaner edge. Well done on a difficult subject.

Good work on this cutout, I always seem to have a hard time cutting out people's hair, but you did a good job with it. I also think it would look a little better with some less feathering. Maybe a little more shadow would help it to stand out a little more.

Your cousin is really cute. You should work on the shadow a little bit with the cut out image becaue they look fine in a picture but odd alone. people are hard regardless.
